Definition of dropouts

They are alot of definitions for dropouts like: are persons who are not enrolled in school and who have not completed high school. People who have received high school equivalency credentials are counted as having completed high school. Students identified as dropouts are students who emter the military before graduating, and alot of students who enrolled as migrants and whose whereabouts are unknown.

To define the word dropout it wouldnt take that long to understand why students at a very young age do it, some do it just because their friends are doing it to feel like they belong somewhere.

Dropping out of high school is related to a number of negative outcomes, and for example, the median income of high school dropouts age 18 and over was $12,184 in 2003. Also by comparison, the median income of those age 18 and over who completed their education with a high school credential (including a General Educational Development certificate, or GED) was $20,431.
Dropouts rates lately have been increasing, students just dont see the importance in going to school and making something out of themselves. Because truthfully without a degree or diploma there is no real good paying job for you, that will get you where you wanna be at

Dropouts get a 2nd chance

Students who dropped out of high school gain a second chance to finish through the state's Adult and Community Education program. Mostly its offered by the S.C. Department of Education, many people take the opportunity to gain what they lost in their past. Adult Ed graduates 200-250 students a year, they made the Adult Ed schedule is designed to accommodate students with jobs and other obligations.
People who get a second chance to improve themselves take it very seriously and try very hard not to mess up like they did the first time. Once u enroll back into school at a older age you then realize that school is something you shouldnt play with and if you wanna get your diploma or degree and make something of your self.

Drug - Dropout

Drugs are the number reason why students dropout of school. For example: research found that one student in particular stated that he lost all interest in school and decided to join a gang and all he would do was hang out with his friends and do drugs just because he thought it was easier.
Some study shows that about 90 percent of students have used alcohol as a excuse to miss school, and their use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs can be influential in their decistion to leave high school or dismissed by authorities.

Parents - Kids: Dropout

Many kids dropout and their parents do not know where they are during school hours, when you are 18 you can officially sign your self out of school, but some students just dont come back. Some students resort to dropping out just because they think school is not for them or because their parents didnt finish school so they think that its ok for them to.
There are consequences of leaving can be great, and there many concrete things that schools and families can do to help students stay in school, or get an alternative education, and also meet their personal responsibilities. The main reason why students dropout is because their decisions may be supported by the people closest to them in the belief that they have no choice. Preventing High School Dropouts

Preventing teens from dropping out of school requires services from and cooperation among schools, community agencies and local businesses. Alot of states and school have tried a variety methods of measures and many programs to see students stay in school.

Research shows that the Federal Government supports many prevention efforts through its Dropout Prevention Demonstration Program, which provides grants to school districts that “utilize strategies proven effective for preventing students from dropping out of school.” There are alot of factors that can prevent students from dropping out, which are the low student-teacher ratios, nonthreatening environments, cultural sensitivity, family involvement and clear curriculum objectives. States are working very hard to see that students dont drop out.

Study has shown that a very large difference in employment rates between male and female high school dropouts. In a week, roughly two-thirds of male dropouts are employed while only about one-third of female dropouts have a job. Employed male dropouts work three to seven hours more per week than employed female dropouts. The employment difference between male and female dropouts is much greater than the male-female difference between students. In most cases female dropouts are even less likely to be working than female students. Female dropouts work more hours per week than do female students. Not every student makes it to graduation – and without a high school degree, finding work can be tough.
